William "Bill" Robert O'Dell

William “Bill” O’Dell, 73, of Silsbee, Texas died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.

Bill was born April 27, 1937, in Royalty, Texas and had lived in the Beaumont, Texas area for eleven years.  He was a United States Marine and was a retired United States Postmaster from Deer Park, Texas.  Bill also held multiple positions in the Masonic Fraternity.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ann O’Dell of Silsbee; sons, Michael O’Dell and his wife Diane of Montgomery, Texas and Ronald Dayton and his wife Janet of Clayton, Texas; daughters, Sharon O’Dell of Tyler, Texas, Cheryl Dayton-Shotts and her husband Phillip of Pearland, Texas, and Carol Layfield of Lumberton, Texas; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Jim O’Dell and his wife Gwen of Malakoff, Texas; sister, Teresa Spann of Tyler, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 21, 2011, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee with interment at Houston National Cemetery in Houston.  A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, March 20, 2011, 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
