Rodney Dean Johnson, 52, of Spurger died Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Memorial Hospital in Lufkin. He was born July 9, 1958, in Kountze to Doyle Douglas and Velma Louise (Sewell) Johnson. Having lived most of his life in Spurger, he was a roadway technician with Texas Department of Transportation in Kountze.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Johnson of Spurger; children, Brett Johnson of Austin, Tammy Benton of Spurger, Brian Benton and his wife Shannon of Spurger, and Jennifer Oliver and her husband Matt of Spurger; brothers, Doug Johnson of Silsbee, Jim Johnson and his wife Marilyn of California; and Roy Johnson and his wife Emily of Fred; and four grandchildren.
His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 14, 2011, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze with Reverend Walter Ray Cowart officiating. Burial will follow at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. A gathering of his family and friends will be Thursday, January 13, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
