Vincent Joseph “V.J.”
Barranco, 95, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 25, 2016, in his home. He was
born on November 26, 1921, in Beaumont, to Sicilian immigrants, Lena Fertitta
Barranco and Samuel Barranco.
V.J. started his first
printing business in his parents’ garage in the late 1930’s, printing
newspapers for Beaumont High School and Davy Crockett Junior High School. He
learned so much about printing and after serving in the United States Air Corp
in World War II, he founded Southwestern Printing Company and began to build a
larger cliental.
V.J. is survived by his
sister, Angie Tarrer of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Jual Wagner of White Marsh,
Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death
by his wife of sixty-nine years, Ruth Barranco; and brothers, Frank Barranco
and Anthony Barranco.
The family would like
to thank longtime friends Joyce and Dianne, Harbor Hospice, and Quality Care.
A gathering of Mr.
Barranco’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December
29, 2016, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, with a
reception to follow in the Parish Hall. His interment will take place at 12:30
p.m., at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
