Estelle Marie Redding, 73, of Port Arthur, died Monday,
October 3, 2016. She was born on July 2, 1943, to Veronica and Aulcie George
Redding, Sr., in Galveston.
Marie lived in Winnie for five years before moving to Port Neches
and graduating from Port Neches-Groves High School. She graduated from Lamar State
College of Technology in 1965 with a Bachelor’s in English and went on to
graduate with a Master’s Degree. Marie was a teacher for forty-five years and
worked forty-two years in the Nederland Independent School District. She worked
from 1968 to 1987 at C.O. Wilson Junior High School before moving to Nederland
High School where she retired in 2010. Marie was also a Mary Kay Consultant and
a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.
Survivors include her brother, Aulcie George Redding, Jr.,
of Galveston; and several other friends, co-workers, and students. She will be especially
missed by her faithful dogs and cat. Marie was preceded in death by her
parents.
Her family and friends would like to extend a special thanks
to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas’ nurses, Christus Dubuis Hospital of
Port Arthur, and Dr. Michael Keller for their compassion and assistance to Miss.
Redding.
A gathering of Miss. Redding’s family and friends will be
from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with her Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday,
October 6, 2016, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2016, at
Broussard’s, Nederland, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park,
Groves.
