Joan Carol Luquette

Joan Carol Luquette, 75, of Kountze, died July 14, 2016,
surrounded by family, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beaumont. She was born
March 26, 1941, the only child of Fred and Marjorie Colburn Freeman in Connecticut. When her
mother died at an early age, Joan and Fred relocated to San Francisco, California,
where she graduated high school in 1959.
When she met and married her second husband, Edmund, the
family relocated to his hometown of Beaumont
in 1968, where they became owners and operators of Independent Wrecker Service
as partners with Edmund's brother, David.
Joan had a lifelong love of all things beach and was happiest when she was at
her beach cabin in Crystal Beach. It was her great joy to host
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends at the cabin, where
many memories were made over the years.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda Luckey of Buna; Edmund “Bubba” Luquette, Jr. of China; Sharon Rogers of Sour Lake; Kelly Kessler of
Austin; Stacey Hernandez of Kountze; grandchildren, Shelly Burns, Edmund Luquette III, Brandon
Luquette, Bill Kessler Jr., Joshua Rogers, Carol Ann Kessler, Donny Luckey,
Amanda Rogers, Eli Hernandez, Lilli Luquette, and Kristina Luquette; eleven
great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edmund D.
Luquette; son, Charles James “C.J.” Luquette; grandson, Chase
Luquette; granddaughter, Carol Denise Luckey; daughter-in-law, Cynthia
Lanell Luquette; and significant other, L.J. Carter.
A gathering of Mrs. Luquette’s family and friends will begin
at 2:00 p.m., with her memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016,
at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road,
Silsbee. Her committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
