Hal "Tiger" Gripon Tierney

Hal Gripon “Tiger” Tierney, 84, of Silsbee, died
Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born on March 14, 1932, in Beaumont, to Mary
Gripon Tierney and John Taylor Tierney.
Hal graduated from Beaumont High School in 1950. He then
went on to serve in the United States Army and was discharged as a Korean War
veteran. After being discharged, he attended Lamar State College. Hal was
employed at Gulf States Utilities in the accounting department for 33 years. He
was an active member of the Silsbee Evening Lions Club, National Association of
Accountants, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Silsbee. Hal’s hobbies
included square dancing, singing karaoke, reading, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Barbara L.
Tierney of Beaumont; daughters, Kathleen L. Hardt and her husband,
Steve, of Beaumont and Sharon A. Meads and her husband, Kevin, of Orange; grandchildren,
Wyatt E. Hardt of Beaumont; and Ethan D. Meads and MaKenna L. Meads, both of Orange;
and nieces and nephew, Kathleen O’Tierney of Bastrop; and Lynn and Brad Tierney
of Longmont, Colorado.
A gathering of Mr. Tierney’s family
and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00
a.m., Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Meeker Baptist Church, 575 North Meeker Road,
Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the
direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the
staffs at Beaumont Health Care Center and Harbor Hospice for the care of their
father.
