Joy
Childress Myers, 79, of Kountze, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. She was born in Houston, on March 25, 1936,
to Mary Bell Oldham Hathorn and Otis B. Hathorn.
Mrs.
Myers was a longtime resident of Hardin County and had worked at the Hardin
County Courthouse for over twenty-five years for District Attorneys and
District Judges as a legal secretary.
Her greatest love and accomplishment was her three sons and love of
family and friends.
Survivors
include her sons, Gene Childress and his wife, Debra, of Silsbee and Kenneth
and Gloria Childress of Baytown; seven grandchildren; fifteen
great-grandchildren; sister, Clara Wells of Houston; and daughter-in-law,
Deborah Jean Childress of Kountze. She
is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Franklin Myers; son, Ray
Childress; and sister, Glenda Copeland.
A
gathering of Mrs. Myers family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her
funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Broussard’s, 490
Cemetery Road, Silsbee, with her interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery,
Kountze.
