Ella Mae Fondren, 95, of Port Neches, died Saturday, January 17, 2015,
at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born in Fullerton, Louisiana, on July 12,
1919, to Maude and W.C. Williams Lindsey.
Ella Mae was married sixty years to her late husband, Glyn S. Fondren.
She had been an active member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches. One of
her greatest joys was teaching Sunday School there for over sixty years. She
was also a member of Port Neches Chapter #677 Order of The Eastern Star for
seventy-three years. Earlier in life, Ella Mae enjoyed spending time during
election years as an election official at various polling sites in Port Neches.
She loved her church and her family dearly, and dedicated many of her years to
help out with grandchildren.
Ella Mae is survived by her son, Charles Fondren and his wife, Winnie,
of Port Neches; daughter, Glynda McCuller of Nederland; grandchildren, Gina
Sexton and her husband, Kevin, of Groves; Beth Carson and her husband, Kit, of
Port Neches; Kristen Nolte; Jill McCuller of Denver, Colorado; and Joanna
Sheppard and her husband, Lance, of Nederland; great-grandchildren, Lindsey
Castille, Laura Castille, Meredith Carson, Jane Carson, Ty Sheppard, Meg Sheppard,
and Colt Sheppard; and great-great-grandchild, Kaycee Castille.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Evelyn Scurlock;
brother, W.C. Lindsey, Jr.; and son-in-law, Ray McCuller.
A gathering of Mrs. Fondren’s family and friends will be from 5:00
p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th
Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January
21, 2015, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial
Park, Port Neches.
