Mary
Irene Gay, 99, of Bogata, Texas, formerly of Beaumont, died Monday, October 7,
2013, at CNC in Clarksville. She was born on December 12, 1913, to Lula Teer
Buchanan and Andrew Jackson Buchanan, in Honey Island. Mary was an exceptional
seamstress and accomplished writer. She was very well known for her book
reviews. Mary had been an active member of First Christian Church all her life,
including the Alethea Club, and taught Sunday School for over sixty years. Her
family includes her children, David Gay and his wife, Sandie, of Livingston;
their late daughter, Ginger Gay; and Stacy Durham and her husband, Alan, and
their children, David Alan and Danielle, all of Magnolia; and her daughter,
Diane Abbott and her late husband, Gene Abbott, of Bogata and her sons, Jason
Foux of China; his late daughter, Emily Taylor Foux; and his son, Kacey Lane
Foux and his children, Isabella and Laurin, all of Beaumont; and Seth Foux and
his son, Noah Foux; daughter, Sophia Foux; and late children, Levy, Wrangler,
and Chase; son, Army Specialist Aaron Foux and his wife, Jennifer, and their
children, Keeth Foux, Leighann Foux, and Kelin Foux, all of Olympia,
Washington. A gathering of Mrs. Gay’s family and friends
will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2013, at
Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 2:00
p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2013, at First Christian Church, 5290 North
Caldwood Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park,
Beaumont. Serving as pallbearers will be Seth Foux, Joe Alport, Alan Durham, Chad
Coco, and Bobby Paret. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Foux, David Alan
Durham, Jason Foux, and Dr. Bobby Coats.
