I am so sorry to hear about Rachel. I just saw her not too long ago and we laughed about our 'old' times together. She took me to see the Beatles 'land in Houston'and we went to the concert together. What a time we had. I loved her and will miss her. I know she will be our guardian angel from above. A woman with a great capacity to love. You kids will have some great memories.

Sam and I wish to express our deepest sympathy to all of Rachel's family. What a wonderful person and inspiration she was. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of you. Please know how much I'll miss seeing that smiling face, pictures of her children and friends, and just being a part of her life on facebook. She may be gone in body but in our hearts and minds, she will always live on.

Love to all of you,

Phyllis & Sam Chirafis

Debbie, Phyllis, Al, Rachel & Frankie,

I was truly saddened to hear the word of your mother's passing. I know she is with her Savior and will forever be missed by those whose lives she touched.

I have always said Mrs. Durso (as she will always be remembered by me) was one of the absolute best "TEACHERS" I ever knew (even though my college years). When you told her you didn't understand, she didn't simply repeat what she had previously told you but tried to find a way to better explain it to you.

Long after she was my school teacher, she continued to teach me lessons in life. I recently saw her at a Harlem Globetrotters' game and asked her what she was doing - she had promised some of her "new" kids that if they did well in school they would be rewarded. I am sure many of these "rewards" were funded from her own pocket.

Most of all, I will always remember the many life-lesson your mother taught me. She was never scared or ashamed to share her own life's challenges or experiences if it helped her make us better people - AND IT ALWAYS DID!!!

May God peace be with each of you, and your families, during this time. We all love, and will miss Mrs. Durso.

BEVERLY HARREL (beaumont, TX)

Rachel was one of the best principals that I had as a speech therapit for BISD. Her door was always open to her teachers to discuss any and all problems. She was very fair and was always the life of the party. She many tales to tell and this made faculty meeting fly by. I pray she rests in heaven because she never stopped working here one earth. God be with you Rachel, we will all miss you very much.
