I just now learned of Coach Tanner's death. Coach Tanner was my favorite coach. I played basketball for him at Ridgedale in the 80s. I played in college but none of the coaches were as good as Coach Tanner. He is still coaching today in a sense because now that I coach my son's team I use Coach Tanner's techniques, especially the full court press, motion offense, 1-2-2 defense, and espeically the line drills! I loved Coach Tanner and have missed him for 30 years.

My sympathies to the family. Coach Tanner was a big part of our lives at River Oaks in the late 70's. He taught us all how to drive back when the LA legal age was 15! Great man and a great coach we all loved. Leigh Ann Buller Schroeder
