I remember when Carl first joined the Medical Staff. I was still getting my feet on the ground. He hit the ground running. He worked harder than anyone I knew, and did it because he loved what he did. I later learned that what I saw him do at the hospital was only the tip of the iceberg. He took me on a tour of the ranch, and I got to see what he did with "the rest of his day". I was horrified to see the injuries that he exposed himself to. Drug by a horse, gored, and more. You would think that a neurosurgeon would insure his hands at Lloyd's of London, rather than expose them to the rigors of ranching. Not a drug-store cowboy, neither!
As a recipient of his ministrations, I can attest to his ability and compassion. As a surgeon, I was hard to keep in bed after surgery. He caught me making rounds on my patients the day after he operated on my neck. He brought me a pill, and watched me take it. When I woke up the next day, he told me “now you can get up”. Whenever I needed his expertise, even when he was not “on call”, he was always there for my patients.
I have watched Carl deal with adversity over the last several years. He never complained, even when I thought that he had much to complain about. He leaves a legacy of accepting what God gives us today, and cheerfully dealing only with that. He did what he loved to the very end. He can easily say: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day.” God bless you, Carl. You will be missed. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 |

To Dr Shrontz's family, He was a gift from God and you all were very lucky to have him in your life's. He convinced me that neck surgery would help me which it did and he impressed my family so much that thru the past 6 years he has done 6 surgeries on me and my family. It was so much fun to go to his office he was so funny, smart and caring. He made you feel like family and we trusted him with our lives since we knew he could do miracles. God sent him to us and now God is taking care of him. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 |

As I just finished watching the video, I have tear filled eyes and a sad heart. I met Dr. Shrontz in Sept. 1985 when my husband suffered from an AVM and had brain surgery. There was no time to PICK OUT a neurosurgeon, but when God sent us Dr. Shrontz, it was such a blessing. He led us down the road to what would become a long recovery. We have never forgotten him. He helped us in so many ways. When my husband was unable to return to work, he wrote many letters and even went to a hearing helping him to get on disability. We saw him once with his little girls at McDonalds and we waived. We didn't want to interrupt. After finishing, they came over and he asked how everything was going. He always was so caring. He was never in a hurry. He looked you in the eyes when talking, and you knew you not only had a wonderful doctor, but a friend. We love you Dr. Shrontz and we will see you again some day. Dr. Shrontz has been on my prayer list for a long time, and I'll continue to remember his family in my prayers. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 |
