Dear Family: I just got to thinking about Carl today and looked for him on-line and now have learned of his sorrowful departure. Carl was my pal when we were both residents at Henry Ford Hospital. We played racquetball together often and he always found time to play with me. I have said a million times that if my brain ever needed to be operated on, NO MATTER WHERE Carl was, I would WANT Carl in the operating room. Even if someone else was doing the surgery, it would comfort me to know Carl was even WATCHING the surgery. My best to you folks and I treasured being Carl's friend during residency. Michael J. Thank God that Dr. Shrontz was at St. Elizabeth the early morning in October of 1993 when the ambulance carrying me arrived. He was preparing for surgery on another person, and examined me briefly, ordering an MRI. He told me I had a brain bleed from an aneurysm and would need surgery. It was 5 hours before he could operate and he was surprised I survived until he was able to operate. I am one of his "Miracles." With his skillful hands and God's guiding, I am a walking miracle. I was in surgery 7 hours and died twice on the operating table, so I am truly appreciative of Dr. Shrontz's expertise. I asked God to save my life and he put me in the most skilled surgeon's hands. I will remember him always and be grateful he was at the hospital. Blessings to his family. Wednesday, April 14, 2010 |
