I want to express my gratitude for the many, many expressions of sympathy for our great loss. The
response from the media, newspapers (both local and
national), our family, friends, his buddies and people who
only knew of him has been overwhelming.
Our thanks to all.

Dear Mike,
God blessed you and now you are with him.
We didn't see you much after graduation in '55, but we missed you even then. Seems like yesterday you stopped by the big Candler Road front yard; horsed around with the Glenn family where we were always passing the football and stuff.
Didn't get to see you at the monthly Thompson's Buffet Luncheon for the Class. I missed the one Luncheon that you were there--I believe Coach Kell was there too.
You will always be our Southwest DeKalb Panther Hero.
And we will always love your memory.
Your Pal, Fred Foster, Frances, and Son, Mike (yeah, never told anybody, but Mike is named after you) and Son Chris Saturday, June 28, 2008 |

Dad, a lot of people have introduced themselves this past week and remarked how proud you were of me, but I never told you how proud I am of you. It wasn’t until my late teens that you and I really connected and began a bond that saw us both through good and bad times. I may not have agreed with you on everything, but I was proud of you for living life with a joy that rarely faded, always a smile on your face. I was so happy when you and Carol found each other; she was truly a blessing in your life. I cherished our competitive streaks, playing chess or pool until the wee hours, taking a best of three and turning it into a best of twenty-one! I will miss talking football, our phone bills always increasing during the season! I just know that I lost more than a father, I lost a friend. I love you Dad – More. This page isn't long enough to contain all the wonderful remarks that can be made about this bigger than life man. The comfort is that we all know where he is now and what a grand time he is having with all his buddies who have gone on before. This of course doesn't make our loss any easier, Mike you have left a huge whole in the hearts of all of us left behind that loved, respected and cared for you.
Carol Jean, Kathy said it first, but I will say Amen, to the fact that you were the best mom to my children and a great granny to my grandchildren, you loved everyone equally. The love you showed outwardly to Mike always made my children and grandchildren love you more, because they saw you making Mike so happy.
Carol you will never be forgotten, we love you, if there is anything we can do for you, please let us know.
Your friend forever, Billy Jean Dukes Wednesday, June 25, 2008 |
