I will always remember Mike Dukes for the positive influence he had on me as a teenager. I played for him with the Houston Baby Oilers, and because of him, I went on to play college football. I even took his number 30 from the Oilers as my college number, as a tribute to him. I wish I could have told him how much he meant to me, but I didn 't know how to locate him. I was a coach only 30 miles from Beaumont in the late 90's. I hope he read about my teams in the paper and was proud of me. I am successful because of Mike Dukes!

Sincere condolences to the Dukes family. Coach Dukes was a great influence during my teenage years while with the Houston Baby Oilers over 35 years ago. He's left a wonderful legacy of people whose lives he touched in profound ways. I will always remember him.

Well Dad, tomorrow it will be 5 months since you left us. Everone says it get's easier with time. In a sense they are correct. It gets easier to handle. But the hurt never goes away. What keeps me strong is remembering your face and your voice. And I know exactly what you would say about all this. You would tell me to be strong and this is the way it's supposed to be and to never waiver in my belief in God. It is true what I wrote before. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I have so many wonderful memories that I think about all the time. I miss you terribly and love you so much more. I am sending you this letter just like the hundreds we used to write to each other. I know you will be proud to get it.
I will write again -
Ragan
P.S. You never know who's thinking about you!
