Jpaw is my "bonus" grandpa. The Lord strategically placed him in my life. No one could tell me he was just a step-grandparent. He led me to Jesus when I was just a little kid. That's just who he was, the kind of man to share the joy of the Lord with everyone around him. He was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Thank you Jesus for my sweet Jpaw.

Gosh, it's hard for me to even share this because my heart is so broken over the loss of this wonderful man. But I want you to know what a wonderful man Johnny Pounders was. He was one of the kindest and most giving men I've had the privilege of calling friend. He opened up his heart and gave his time to my son, Eric Hunter, when he was younger by taking him to the church men's day out shooting functions and helping him load and shoot and making sure he ate something, which is always important to us mothers. He also encouraged Eric as they stood beside each other every Sunday in choir. He was a true mentor to my son and for that alone, I loved this man. But it doesn't end there. He gave his time and talent to my father, Earl Hicks, when he broke his neck and had to wear a halo for months. He would go to my father's weekly and massage (Johnny was a licensed massage therapist) dad's neck and back for him. The halo was very uncomfortable and only someone who knew what they were doing could have relieved dad's discomfort without causing possible permanent damage to his neck AND he would not take any payment for his time, he did it because that's the kind of person he was; thoughtful, giving and caring. He was always first to volunteer and help in the church; such a hard worker for the Lord. I'm not sure how we will put up the set for pageant without him, he knows exactly where every piece goes. I will miss my "leper partner" so much. I will miss his smile. I will miss him.

Carol and family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Johnny was such a special person to all who knew him. He was my friend from Jr. High, later becoming a neighbor married to one of my best friends and also the Xerox man where I worked at St. Elizabeth. He always had a smile and everywhere he went, he was loved. I will miss him, my family will miss him and we will always remember him with a smile.
