Gem Bordages
June 26, 1935 - March 30, 2015
Rick Dill (New Almaden, CA)

Although we never met face to face, Gem and I were close friends who had daughters of similar age. I followed Claire from teen to adulthood as Gem did with my Janet. I watched from afar as Claire was part of her mother's support team in the ast few years, while Gem followed Janet's long and so far successful fight with leukemia the past dozen years.

Gem was a strong voice in the Down syndrome electronic community and we sort o formed a senior conservative force in the community.

A wonderful person, a great writer, and a friend that I, along with the Downs community, will miss.

Oh Granny- you were never one to hold back your advice, wisdom and encouragement. I thank you for helping me to be the best parent that I can be to my Hannah. You made a real and lasting difference in this world and I will miss you.

Your family will be in my heart and prayers.

Never has a person been so accurately named, because she was a true Gem. I'm so sorry to hear this. For the past 17 years Gem has given me support in my journey with Down Syndrome and motherhood in general. We have also shared the same faith and political views. Her bright and shining spirit has spread across the world. I hope her family knows how far her love and wisdom have spread. Perpetual life grant to her Oh Lord...
With love and sadness, Kathy and Liam in NYC
