Tommy C. Thompson

Tommy was truly one of a kind....unassuming, gentle and enormously talented. In the time that I knew him he inspired me to reach for my best and was someone I admired. My heart goes out to you Donna and his girls. May you find some measure of comfort in the love he had for you and the pride he took in his daughters. Rest my friend, I will miss you.

May the Lord surround you with peace.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Thompson family. I pray for comfort and strength for Donna and the girls during this very difficult time. Tommy will be missed tremendously by myself and the entire Food Services Department here at Baptist Hospital.

Serving as our Executive Chef, Tommy brought a new standard of excellence to all venues he operated. Immediately upon his arrival on June 26, 2012 Tommy started to raise the standard. He insisted that all sauces and entrees be made from scratch. From Alfredo sauce to cheese sauce everything was made fresh daily. His Soup du Jours were a thing of magic...always different and always selling out. When it came time to expand our services in the Physcian Lounge Tommy and his staff brought display cooking to a new level preparing over 100 covers in a two hour span each Wednesday afternoon. Tommy had a following of physicians that came from all over the city and from other hospitals in fact just to enjoy his cuisine.

And then there were the ice sculptures...The Ice Man as he was known.... were so breathtaking that all one could do was be in awe of such talent.

Talent....Tommy had an abundance..

He was a kind, gentle and humble man. In the year and a half I worked with Tommy I can't ever recall him raising his voice at an employee. He looked for the best in people and worked with them to acheive their best. He was a teacher. He was loved and respected by his staff.

Rest in Peace my friend...
You will never be forgotten....
