I was blessed to serve my first pastoral appointment as Jim's associate pastor during his final appointment before retirement. I remember Jim as a man of intelligence and integrity who sincerely loved God and people. I learned many good lessons from Jim, and will always be grateful for the years we spent together. God's blessings to Juanita, Bethlyn, James, and the rest of the family.

Dr. Killen was the pastor who both baptized me as an infant and confirmed me as a teenager during his service at Ashford UMC in Houston. His loving and gracious leadership was my first image of pastor, and one I carry into my teaching of other future UM ministers at Iliff School of Theology. Much love to all of the family in this time of life, and much joy at the deep and wide legacy of Dr. Killen.

Jim was our beloved friend and pastor at Williams Memorial in Texarkana. He was always there for us. He married our daughter & stayed by our side when we were facing health issues. He shared his faith in ways that strengthened our own. He was a true man of God, called to his profession. We will miss his friendship now that he has now joined the great cloud of witnesses. Our deepest sympathy to Bethlyn, Juanita & all the family. You have a great legacy to share with others.

Sharon and I send our love to Juanita and to Jim's family. Jim was an exemplary pastor of integrity, intellect, and compassionate leadership. "The memory of the righteous is a blessing." (Proverbs 10:7)

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Killen briefly. He was gentle, kind, and a very intelligent man. It was obvious to me that he made a great impact on many lives. I believe the only thing that matters in this life is the difference we make for others. Our prayers are going out to his friends and family.

Dad lived a full life. He did everything that he had set out to do. He lived as he believed and never seemed to waver from his path. His job here was done and he has earned the right to the next great adventure. Everything is right and as it should be. I can only say thank you to all of his friends and supporters. Like Dad used to say at the end of many of his sermons, "Go Thou and Do Likewise."

One of my favorite pastors of all time. Jim was patient and precious in the time I served under him. I will never forget some of the lessons he taught me. God be with all of you and grant you peace and comfort.
