It is with the deepest sympathy that I offer my sincere condolences to Steve's family and friends. To have been a coach who was such a positive influence on so many lives has to be of great comfort for all who knew him.. It was indeed an honor and a privilege for me personally to have known Steve not only as a good friend , but as a team mate of the 1961 Lone Star Conference Football Champion Sam Houston State Bearkats . He will be missed by all who knew him and may God have mdercy on his soul.

Love and Prayers going out to each and every one of you during this difficult time. I can't stop thinking about what you said, Steve about you were watching the Super Bowl with your Dad becasuse you never knew how many yall would have left! I'm so glad a few weeks ago I was able to share some crawfish with him while watching Bryce play. What an Amazing husband, father, Grandfather, and friend to so many. God Bless you all and like DeeDee said, she knows where he is "waiting on her in heaven". Love to all!!

It's the little things, the small, everyday occurrences that you'll remember. The laughs, the stories, the smiles. And even though it seems like you can never recover from your loss, it is these very memories that will help push the pain away and bring back the smiles.
Our deepest Sympathy during this difficult time. May the tears shed today be kisses in heaven..

Dee,
I just heard this afternoon, I'm so sorry. I have to tell you, after the shock wore off I've smiled all day. Just sitting and remembering all those times on J Hall. Steve helped many of us keep our sanity. He was a mess and we loved him for it! Thanks for the10 + years that you shared him with those of us at West Brook....we're better for having known him. Many hugs, Kristi Fuselier

To Dee Dee, Steve, Jr. and all of your fine Family: This came as a surprise to me. "Coach" was such a big and good presence, that even with his past illnesses, I never thought of him as so vulnerable that he could pass away! Our comfort and consolation in his passing is the knowledge that he is in Heaven joyously celebrating with all of the Heavenly Hosts! May God bless you all!

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy for the family at this time. Coach Shaver was a good man and I appreciate that I got to work with him early in my career. He was good for kids and that's where life lessons are allowed to grow - when kids know you are thinking of them. His legacy is in all of the kids he coached and all of the coaches who worked with him. May the Big Buff rest in peace and know that he'll be coaching again in Heaven.

Sympathy to the Shaver family. Coach was a person that, once you met him, you never forgot him.
