James "Terry" T. Bourdier

Dear James and Bourdier Family,

James, I knew you as “JJ” and used to be your babysitter when your mom and dad lived in Dayton. You were too young to know how much your dad meant to DHS and especially to his band members. He and Paul Stewart kept all of us in tears from laughter except when it was time to come together as one with music. Your dad had a gift for more than just making music. He taught each of us life lessons that have lasted well beyond the bandhall. I remember the upper classmen telling your dad that the band and the coaches did not work well together—well, he changed that and taught all of us another valuable lesson. Coach Pruitt and your dad talked; that was the year the band began playing the Green Beret when the football team needed to know the fans were pulling for them. I have very fond memories of watching the sheer joy your father had when directing the band. I am so sorry for the pain and the missing part of your heart, but am delighted to know heaven is celebrating their new choir member. Thank you for sharing the video; it was nice to see "Mr. Bourdier" in the years after he left Dayton.

Terry was a friend to everyone in the community. His charm and loving spirit demonstrated his devotion to his belifs. Although he is no longer with us in person, his deeds will live on through his caring commitment to others.

Karen: I want to let you know that you are in my prayers. I am so sorry for the loss of your husband Terry. He did so much good in the community and I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

Terry became a friend to all. His jovial personality and his many gifts made a huge impression to all of us who knew him. He will always be remembered and there's a brick at Lod Cook named Arnold Shakeaux Terry keep those jokes coming from Above. Evan those of us who are not "stick chicks" will keep you in our memory until we meet again

As executive director of the neighboring United Way of Baytown Area since 2001, I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know and appreciate Terry as both colleague and friend. Sincerest condolences to all of you in his family.

I am shocked and saddened by the news of Mr. Bourdier's passing. He was an enthusiastic, energetic and kind man and a fabulous musician. He's in Heaven now coming up with new ideas and music to keep everyone entertained. My deepest sympathies go out to all of you and my prayers will lift up your names for comfort and strength.

Dear Karen,

I was glad that our LCHS band captain and 1st chair flutist married band director Terry Boudier. His happy and competent approach to enriching the lives of young musicians must have been a joy to you.

Terry was a wonderful person and citizen. The community has lost an asset in so many ways. He welcomed me to the non-profit community when I moved to Beaumont and made sure I made friends with many. He was a role model for all. May your memories comfort you Karen and family.
