Karl is a good man who gives of himself and is active in the St. Stephens ministries. Karl was among the folks who went through confirmation with myself and my family, and I fondly recall a swimming event Karl organized for our youth program a few years ago that produced many smiling faces. He will be missed by our community. Our prayers go to Rick and others closest to him.

Karl showed us how to show kindness to others. It did not matter the age or how anyone appeared. He made others feel beautiful inside and outside. God's peace and blessings to all mourning his death.

For Rick and all of Karl's family, you are in my prayers. I am saddened by our great loss. Karl was such a kind person and made everyone feel welcomed. We may never know how or why another touches our life, but Karl certainly had a way of making you feel special. He will be very missed.

Karl was one of my best friends. I knew him for 16 years and loved him dearly. I met him at Salon West after I had broken my wrist, and he helped me with my hair, as I had only one good hand. Well, that was the beginning of such a happy friendship. I didn't really care how he did my hair - it was good though - I just wanted to see him and talk about life. I remember saying to his mamma - as he called her - in the beauty shop, that she had done a wonderful job on her son. I hope she remembers that. She did seem very proud at the time. Even though I moved away, I still remained in touch with Karl, although now I wish it had been more - he's right in front in my address book and always will be. If anyone deserved to be in heaven, it's my precious Karl, truly a wonderful person.

To all the people who loved Karl and shared his life, please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Karl was a very close friend of mine even though we had not been in touch in the past few years. I have many fond memories of very good times with him. He was very talented and was friends to anyone he met. God bless this wonderful man. Rest In Peace Karl.

Dear Betty, David and Johnny, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Karl. Though many years have passed since we have seen your family, you will hold a special place in the hearts of many people from Nome! I remember all the fun times we had playing as children. Most especially I remember Karl always with a quick smile and laughter. Lifting your family up in prayers during this time of loss and praying for peace and comfort.
Much love, Melanie Aldrich Holland
