My deepest sympathies to Mr. Charles' family in your loss. He was a wonderful person and your memories of him will be ever so precious. I will be lifting you up in prayer and may God comfort you and embrace all of you with his grace during this difficult time.
Mr. Charles was a wonderful teacher, one of my favorites, and I thought of him so very often over the years. I now know that he had the patience of Job to have taught and worked with junior high students. Rest in peace, Mr. Charles, until we meet again.

Harry, I'm sure going to miss you Bro.! You and I have always been together, even in the Navy 1945 -- a pleasure that will be with me always. I like the times that you and I would confuse our family relatives as to who was the oldest. Even today I'm sure they are still confused -- I'll keep it that way. Love You with all my heart. Joe

Mr. Charles...Mr. Charles...The absolute BEST teacher, friend, mentor I was honored to have at Port Neches Junior High and all the years after. I am privileged to have been one of his band students. He could crack a joke, run his hands through his hair, wear plaid pants w.a striped shirt and dance around the room...all the time teaching, mentoring, being a disciplinarian, and making you feel good about yourself. My prayers for peace and comfort go out to the family. He will definitely be missed by lots of people...but, what wonderful memories we all have of such a special man! God Bless You and give you peace.

Mr. Charles and I met many years ago ('94? '95?) while teaching private clarinet lessons at TJHS in Port Arthur. He was a kind man with a gentle spirit who was passionate about music and music education. On our lesson nights, we shared many laughs, told some great stories, played the heck outta some duets, and exchanged a ton of ideas. Thoughts, prayers, and exceptionally good energy go out to his close friends and family. Mr. Charles, you shall be missed!

I met Harry in the fall of 1997 when I was private teaching for PNG. Over the past 13-14 years, Harry has served as a mentor & cheerleader for bands in the area, but I will miss his friendship most of all.
Harry touched everyone he met in a special way and he will be missed greatly. God bless your family, and I offer my sincerest condolences. Please contact me if I can help your family with anything.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Life is such a precious gift and all too soon it can slip away. But, if I may, I'd like to share a though with you that brings me peace of mind. "The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear the voice of Christ and come out." John 5:28,29 So even though those we love are asleep in death a beautiful future awaits all those found in Gods memory.

I am unable to attend, because I live in Louisiana at this time. But I am so grateful that I am able to let his family know that I was thinking of him. He was my favorite teacher. I had heard that someone had found out where he was, and I was going to write a note to him. But alas, I am sad that I am unable to do so. I must tell you he was as I know you have heard before an excellent teacher. Being a retired teacher, I truly know the difference between good teachers and bad. I was in band with him at Port Neches Junior High during 1960-61. I look back on that time with enjoyment. He made you want to play and instrument and he was able to enjoy his students while maintaining good discipline. We were all blessed to have had him as a teacher.

What an unforgettable man! Mr. Charles was everything an educator should be--wise, funny, kind, firm without being harsh--a truly wonderful mentor. My prayers go out to his family.
