Anita Wingate Murphy

When I first came to Texas to teach I stayed with Anita. What a delightful experience. We've been friends ever since. She even took me shoe shopping that first time! (Ever the optomist!) What a joy she was! Always sharing what was going on with her family, always asking about my family. She was one of the grandmothers of quiltmaking and I will miss her so much. She was such a blessing to all who knew her, a kind an generous heart.

Anita was a wonderful friend to us both, a treasured member of our extended family and we will miss her greatly. Know that you are in our prayers for peace and healing.

To Anita's family: I am so sorry for your loss.When I would visit with her she was so proud of her family and always had wonderful things to say about her children and grandchildren. I will miss Anita very much but I will delight in the memories I have of her and I- visiting in her warm and lovely home, quilt festival and going places together! By the way, she was a GREAT front seat driver, One of her quips," I thought you would have stopped 2 feet back"!!! What fun days those were! In my thoughts and prayers, Kathy Robinson

Anita was one of the great ladies of the quilt world. She was always kind, always enthusiastic, and always had a sense of humor. It was a privilege to know her.
