I did not know Ted that well but as a pilot I had the experience of flying with him several years ago. He had the love of flight which compelled him to seek out high and spectacular vantage points most have only dreamed of achieving. I know he will be missed by those who are left to cherish his memory.

AS MOST OF YA'LL KNOW, I'M THE DAUGHTER OF THE GREATEST DADDY THAT EVER LIVED. AN HONEST, HARDWORKING AND MORE IMPORTANT HONORABLE. I HAVE ONLY COME ACROSS A HANDFUL OF SUCH MEN, MY GRANDFATHERS AND MAINLY MY FATHER. HE AND I, AT TIMES, WELL MANY OF TIMES DIDN'T SEE EYE TO EYE. HE COULD BE TOUGH ON ME BUT HE ALWAYS HAD MY BEST INTEREST AT HEART. HE ALWAYS WANTED THE BEST FOR ME AS DID FOR THE REST OF HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS. DADDY WAS MY FIRST LOVE. FRANKLY HE WAS WITH ME ON MANY OF MY FIRST. MY FIRST AT BUILDING A SNOWMAN, DIVING OFF A DIVING BOARD AND GIVING ME DRIVING LESSON. USUALLY A MOTHER TEACHES THEIR DAUGHTER HOW TO COOK, BUT NO, MY DADDY TAUGHT ME. I OWE MY LOVE OF COOKING TO HIM. I WILL ALWAYS CHERISH COOKING ON CHRISTMAS EVE WITH HIM. DAD WOULD ALWAYS COOK GUMBO FOR ALL THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT WOULD STOP BY. MOST IMPORTANT, HE BOILED THE BEST CRAWFISH IN THE WORLD. HE WILL ALWAYS BE THE GREATEST MAN I WILL EVER KNOW. HIS LOVE FOR ME AND MINE FOR HIM SURPASS ANY LOVE I WILL EVER HAVE. I FEEL COMFORT IN THE FACT HE WENT DOING THE THING HE LOVED BEST. HE IS WITH JESUS AND THAT GIVES ME JOY. HE CAN WATCH OVER ALL HIS LOVED ONES AND HELP GUIDE US IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES. I WILL MISS HIM IMMENSELY, BUT REJOICE IN THE FACT HE'S AT PEACE AND WITH THE LORD.

Caffarel family,
We are so saddened by the loss of a dear friend to us individually and as a family and we share our prayers and condonlences with you all. Ted was first a business acquaintance and soon became and trusted and treasured friend...always concerned with our daily trials and tribulations and available to listen, lend a hand, entertain a child, laugh and share stories, and most definitely engage in healthy political and philosophical debates. He lived his life as an example to helping your community and fellow man and his generosity of spirit and self is a constant lesson to us all. We will miss his story-telling, his laughter, hunting together, cooking together and passionate debates.
We feel blessed with the new friends that Ted brought to our life and privledged to have known the man and shared in life's journey if only for a short time. We will miss you and treasure all that we have shared...never forgotten.
Good Bless you Ted as we know you are back home.
Michelle, Tyler, and Greg

My sympathy to all of the Caffarel family. This is a great loss. Aunt Earline, if you are reading this, I think of all of you often and still miss the good times we had in White Castle.

I've know Ted for over 50 yrs. He always treated me like a younger brother. Always checking on me and my family. His concern was geniune. When I was down, he would lift me up. When he was down, I would try to be there for him. Rarely was it the latter. He never complained, always had the answers. I have had so many fond memories with him, especially when he would call and tell me how stupid the LSU coach was during the football season. The greatest was Ted's ranting and raging, and screaming over the famous "17 second no clue what to do game last year. I saw all of the family for the memorial service. Wade was astonished at how many people were there. He would really have been impressed if we did it in White Castle, Durango, D'ville, Thibodaux, and I guess in Egypt also, cause Caffarel was everywhere taking care of people. If you ever wondered if God loved you......your answer was a big yes...if he let you meet Ted Caffarel. A big red headed, man's man, loving and caring for everyone. In his eulogy, Franny Mury said Ted had been bored lately so he decided to do the pilot thing again. Well after talking to so many that said how Ted had been there for them, I do not knnow how he had time to be bored. I love you my big brother. I still do not believe it. To the family, I am at your disposal. I love you all!

To Ted's Family, We were Ted's next door neighbors in Thibodaux, LA, and as many others have stated, quickly became best friends. We hunted and fished together, shared many a meal (a few drinks), and raised our kids together. Ted was such a special person and my entire family is extremely saddened by his premature passing. Kristi, Wade, and the rest of Ted's family...our prayers are with you. Regards, Ed Havard

My deepest sympathy goes out to you, Kristi, Wade and Ted's family. This is so hard to believe. I spoke to Ted a couple of weeks ago. This is such a tragic accident. I will keep you all in my prayers.
