Mrs. Stone was one of my most influential teachers. She made grammar memorable and taught me the importance of a good outline! The knowledge of language that I learned from her has served me well in both my personal and professional endeavors. Mrs. Stone was certainly a fun, quirky, and dedicated teacher that I will never forget.

Mrs. Nettie Stone was no less than a treasure! How sad to hear of her passing. Oh the laughs that she gave everyone in her classes while sneakily teaching them things! What a wonderful legacy she left in her students and I'm sure coworkers.
May God give you strength during the loss of such a wonderful, strong and loving woman!

Thank you, Stone family, for sharing your mother/grandmother/great grandmother with the community. Mrs. Stone was a treasure, and touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. Some of my favorite memories of being younger involve the GT trips she so kindly took us on, or working on the yearbook under her guidance. I know loss is difficult, but I hope that the warm memories of love and happiness bring you solace in the days ahead.

Mom, we're gonna miss you and that smile. Pop's happy again now though. Bob, Jake and girls, I love you.

She was one of my favorite teachers. She was the only teacher that ever taught my mom in school and myself almost 2 decades later. She made a big difference at H-F! She made sure every student she taught could spell "receive". Her Yearbook/Newspaper/G.T. class was the best, taking fieldtrips to Galveston and her beach cabins at Crystal Beach.

Rest In Peace Mrs. Stone.

Mrs Stone had such an important impact in the foundational years of so many lives. Looking back I can see the grief she often took with grace, patience, and a smile. I remember vividly the day a lowly 7th grade pupil was asked to read the spelling list for Mrs Stone's class quiz because she had laryngitis. With what must have been a trembling voice he read one word after another until he reached a strange word, but what was he to do but continue on? He read the word just as it was written - "opossum". The class's snicker instantly let him know he had made a mistake. And Mrs Stone looked at me and said graciously, "That's alright. You just gave them a little help." I have never forgotten that moment. A friend of mine who recently lost her father said to me, "God is sustaining me. It turns out incredible grief and incredible joy can coexist." May it be so for all of her family and closest friends.

My thoughts and prayers to all who love Mrs. Stone.

Thank you for your dedication to and patience with the thousands of children you taught through your career. I was fortunate to be one of those kids.

Much Love,
Alyssa

Mrs. Stone will surely be missed by all that knew her. She was always smiling and happy. Her big smile and laugh made the people around her laugh and be happy. She was a wonderful sweet lady. She was teaching when I was in Jr. High and continued to teach when I became a teacher. See you later sweet lady! May God wrap His loving arms around her family and give them peace.
With condolences,
Susan LeBlanc
