Dear Smith Family and Friends,
My condolences to Ben's family. I am saddened to learn of Ben's passing. I knew Ben as a fellow graduate student at Indiana University and recall that he was a bright, passionate, and energetic man that loved OU football. In memory of Ben I sent a small donation to the Clark County library.
Sincerely, Angela McDowell

My condolences to the Smith family. I very much enjoyed my short time knowing Ben, especially at the psych parties. I wanted to pass on that one discussion that would be of much import now, and that was last Thanksgiving. I asked him what he was going to be doing, and he talked about visiting family and how important it was and how much he was looking forward to it. I am so glad that he did.

We were shocked to find this posted on FB at the time you were having Ben's memorial service. We are so glad we got to reconnect with you and Ben 3 years ago when we passed through Beaumont. He always had a special place in our hearts and will continue to as we remember him. May God's peace comfort you once again. Wayland & Patsy

I called Ben my classmate for about a week; then Ben decided to go to the University of Oklahoma. I was sad. The week I'd had with Ben in class made me want more. We corresponded for a while after that. I wish we'd kept on writing. This is a kid I should have loved to get to know better. To his father, a heartfriend of mine, I wish you well, dear Randy, in a tough, tough time.
In love and sorrow,
Johnny Wink

I knew Ben from Jr/Sr High. I remember how he was usually the smartest person in the room but was never arrogant about it. He has a very kind soul. I wish I had known him better. So sorry for his family's great loss. You all are in my prayers.
