Kathy Reid Riggs
July 14, 1962 - December 20, 2016
Kathy Reid Riggs, 54, of Beaumont, died Tuesday,
December 20, 2016, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was
born on July 14, 1962, to Jeanine Hickman Reid and Henry Alexander Reid III, in
Lake Charles, Louisiana. Kathy was a 1980 graduate of Monsignor Kelly Catholic
High School. She graduated from Lamar University with B.A. in Criminal Justice
and worked as a Probation Officer. She later became a substitute teacher for
the Beaumont School system. But most of all, she was a proud and devoted
mom to her daughter, Elizabeth. Kathy enjoyed working in her yard,
Mexican food, and playing kickball with their pets, Missy and Bear.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Riggs
of Beaumont; father, Dr. Henry “Buck” Reid and his wife, Carol Lillard Reid, of
Divide, Colorado; sister, Beth Crochet and her husband, Shane, of Lake Charles,
Louisiana; brother, Brice Reid and his wife, Cori, of Florissant, Colorado; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She
is preceded in death by her mother, Jeanine Hickman Reid; maternal
grandparents, Ouida and John Hickman; and paternal grandparents, Betty Phillips
Reid and Sheriff Ham Reid.
A gathering of Ms. Riggs’ family and friends
will be from at 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow
at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 23, 2016, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major
Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park,
Beaumont.
