Betty Jean Monteau
November 20, 1931 - July 10, 2013
Betty Monteau, 82, of Winnie, passed away peacefully in her
sleep Tuesday, July 9, 2013. She was born on November 20, 1931, in Honey Island
and was the daughter of Letha Gore Geisendorf, Albert “Easy” Geisendorf and
Bowman Flowers.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Winnie and at the age of
forty-eight she went to college and obtained her Registered Nurse Degree. She
was a practicing registered nurse for many years and before retiring held
positions of Director of Skilled Nurses for Baptist Hospital, Beaumont. Betty
was instrumental in petitioning and obtaining state approval for the
establishment of the Arboretum Nursing Home in Winnie, where she was a resident
at the time of her death.
Betty is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, C. W.
“Cooney” Monteau; brother, Foster Geisendorf; daughter, Virginia Kay Kluck;
son, Gary Lynn Monteau; Daughter-in-law, Terri Monteau; grandchildren, Courtney
Kluck, Brandy Kluck, and Katelyn Mott; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Valka, Lane
Mott, and Dawson Mott; nephews, Randy McDaniel and Kevin McDaniel; and numerous
other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Letha Geisendorf;
step-father, Albert “Easy” Geisendorf; father, Bowman Flowers; sister, Lanell
McDaniel; brother-in-law, Roy Lee “Cotton” McDaniel; and grandson, Matthew Ryan
Monteau.
Cremation was under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West
Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

First United Methodist Church of Winnie-Stowell, P. O. Box 1570, Winnie, Texas
77665.
