Jon Ethel Tanton, 88, of Silsbee, died Friday, February 15, 2013. A native and lifelong resident of Silsbee, she was born on March 11, 1924, to Clerie Eason Spell and Carl Spell.
Survivors include her children, Rachel Williams and her husband, Lester, of Kountze; Patsy Ann Robinson of Huntsville; Jerry Bay Tanton and his wife, Anna, of Silsbee; and Janice Elaine Swaim and her husband, John R., of Spring; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Lawrence of Daisetta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Tanton; grandson, Matthew Williams; brothers, Floyd Spell, Gerald Spell, and Ernest Spell; sister, Jewell Jarrell; son-in-law, Murray Dan Robinson; and Hope’s husband, John Allen Johnson.
A gathering of Mrs. Tanton’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2013, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Silsbee.
