George Robert Stark
December 7, 1915 - January 16, 2013

George Robert Stark, 97, of Sour Lake, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was born on December 7, 1915, in Bon Weir, to Hester McMahon Stark and Perry Stark, and had been a longtime resident of the Sour Lake area. George was a Chief Warrant Officer for the United States Navy for thirty years having served in World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam. He was a longtime deacon and trustee serving at First Baptist Church Bevil Oaks.

 

Survivors include his wife of over seventy years, Sarah Stark; daughter, Diane Stark of Nashville, Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

 

A gathering of Mr. George’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
