Dearl Eugene “Shorty” Walters, 64, of Woodville, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Tyler County Hospital, Woodville. He was born on January 20, 1948, in Kountze, to Audrey Mae Emmanuel Walters and Buster Wilburn Walters.

 

Shorty retired with the Texas Highway Department following thirty-four years of service as a crew leader. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Village Mills.

 

Survivors include his brothers, Ronnie Wayne Walters, Sr. and sister-in-law, Rhonda Hamilton of Kountze and Ray White of Silsbee; sisters, Sylvia Miller and her husband, Lee of Silsbee and Gloria Faye Walters of Cleveland; nephews, Wee Man Collins of Kountze; Larry Paul Harrison of Lumberton; Stanton Ray White of Silsbee;  Ronnie Wayne Walters, Jr. and his wife, Leta of Evadale; and Jason Wells of Kountze; and nieces, Debbie Kelley and her husband, Art of Shore Acres; Gale McGallion and her husband, Craig of Silsbee; Tracie Lynn Walters of Kountze; and Jessica Walters of Kountze.

 

A gathering of Mr. Walters’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Broussard’s, 530 W. Monroe, Kountze. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery, Village Mills.
