Sammy Charles Ricks, 67, of Wildwood, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. Born December 15, 1944, in Crockett, to Odessa (Watson) and Charles Grady Ricks, he had been a resident of Wildwood for eleven years. A 1963 graduate of Kountze High School, Sam was a retired maintenance supervisor with Houston Lighting and Power Company, following thirty-five years of service. He was a longtime member of Kountze Church of Christ and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend to many who will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of nearly forty-five years, Dottye Ricks of Wildwood; daughter, Nena Perdue and her husband, Clint of Grandview, Missouri; sister, Charlotte Fillingim and her husband, George of Livingston; brother, Jimmy Ricks and his wife, Janette of Evadale; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Kountze Church of Christ, 1035 North Pine, Kountze with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the church.
