Helen Ruth Rector, 88, of Nederland, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012.
She was born December 10, 1923, to Bessie Pearl Stanford Thornton and George W. Thornton in Moulton, Alabama. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and loved to be around her family. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Apostolic Church and loved her church family.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin E. Rector of Nederland; daughters, Brenda Cook of Nederland and Marguerite Usey and her husband, Danny of Groves; grandchildren, Terry J. Cook, Jr. and his wife, Alisha, Melissa Coleman, Johnathan Coleman and his wife, Jessica, Leah Coleman, and Daniel Usey; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Williams and Matthew Williams; brothers, George Thornton and his wife, Nadean and Othor Thornton and his wife, Pat; and sisters, Wiladean Myers and Mary Hall.
A gathering of her family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 12th Street, Nederland. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 6, 2012, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, 101 Block Street, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Texas Home Health Hospice nurses- Kim, Linda, Helen, and Ron. We appreciate the loving care and comfort provided.
