Michael K. Mitchel, Sr., 80, of Beaumont, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.
A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Mr. Mitchel was born September 15, 1931, to Pauline G. Flach Mitchel and Raymond G. Mitchel. He retired as an insurance investigator with Equifax after thirty-one years of service. Mr. Mitchel was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Fay Mitchel of Beaumont; sons, Michael Mitchel, Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Vidor, and Kelly Mitchel of Rosesharon; grandchildren, Michael Mitchel III, and Jennifer Stassi and her husband, Brett Stassi, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Evie Stassi, Christopher Stassi, Donovan Mitchel, and Josh Mitchel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Addie and Adam Flach; and brother, Ray Mitchel.
A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s.
