Dickie Jane Ramsey Calame, 83, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont.
She was born October 24, 1928, in Rockland, Texas to Geraldine Dickerson Ramsey and George Sanford Ramsey and had been a Beaumont resident since 1949. Following her high school graduation in 1946, she attended Sam Houston State Teachers College having graduated in 1949.A retired teacher with South Park Independent School District and nursing advisor with Lamar University, she was a longtime member of Highland Avenue Baptist Church and South Park Baptist Church and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wisteria Chapter. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Sidney Calame of Beaumont; sons, Danny Calame and his wife, Cathy of Nederland and Kyle Calame of Beaumont; grandsons, Britt Valenta and his wife, Julie of Amarillo, Cody Calame and his wife, Taylor of Abilene, Philip Valenta and his wife, Cassady of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Bryan Calame of Nederland; granddaughters, Lisa Thompson and her husband, Kevin of Eagle River, Alaska and Stephanie Huebel and her husband, Jeff of Houston; and great-grandsons, Brady Calame and Owen Thompson.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Jaunita Dejarnette.
A gathering of her family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, 3098 Hwy. 69 N, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s.
