Roland Johnson, 78, of Port Arthur, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. Born February 20, 1934, in Opelousas, Louisiana to Nina and Terrance Johnson, he was a resident of the Mid-County area since 1957.
Roland retired from Texaco, where he was employed as a lithographer for over thirty years and was a veteran of the United States Army. He will be remembered for his passion for racehorses, love of the Dallas Cowboys and great sense of humor.
Roland is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Marie Johnson of Port Arthur; daughters, Priscilla Wright and her husband, Douglas of Port Arthur, Anita Stevens and her husband, Stewart of Lumberton, Belinda Wiggins and her husband, John of Longview and Kayla Schmidt of Holden, Louisiana; son, Craig Johnson and his wife, Shelly of Silsbee; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Jeremy Wright; and sister, Drusella Schexneider.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Broussard’s.
A private family committal will follow at a later date.
