Marilyn Oliver, 84, of Port Neches, died Monday, March 5, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Mary, Port Arthur.
Born October 16, 1927, to Louise Breaux and Joseph Vincent in Leroy, Louisiana, she was a longtime resident of the Mid-County area. Marilyn enjoyed church, yard work and seafood. She was a woman who was known for being strong, devout, and holy; sharing her faith with others for twenty-five plus years by delivering meals on wheels, visiting the sick in local nursing homes and bringing Holy communion weekly to those who could not attend Mass. Marilyn also participated weekly at the Holy Hour of Adoration at St. Catherine’s of Siena.
She is survived by her children, Janice Hargraves of Winnie, Billy C. Oliver, Jr. of Port Neches and Joseph A. Oliver and his wife, Leanna of Magnolia; grandchildren, Jason Hargraves, Jennifer Hargraves, Bradley Oliver and Jacob Oliver; three great grandchildren; brother, Leeward Vincent; and sister, Medora Dore.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy C. Oliver, Sr.; and seven siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2006 Nall Street, Port Neches, with entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2012, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
