Marvin Wilbur Hood, 78, of Nederland went to be with our Lord Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. Born September 4, 1933, to Claudine Ernest and William Edward Hood in Port Arthur, he was a lifelong resident of the area. Marvin retired from Gulf Oil Corporation and was also a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping others. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Rose Lee (Arisco) Hood of Nederland; sons, and daughters-in-law, Kirby Hood and his wife, Kristi of Nederland, Chad Hood and his wife, Loretta of Lumberton and Kyle Hood and his wife, Nikki of Groves; grandchildren, Kortney and Jake Romero of Nederland, Charlee and John Lane of Hillister, Chip Hood of Port Neches, Dustin Hood of Nederland, Devan Hood of Lumberton, Chase Hood of Nederland; and great grandsons, Colten and Trevor Lane.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mildred and Betty.
His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Groves. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012, with a Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., at Broussard’s.
