Tom D. Oglesbee, 88, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at home under the care of Harbor Hospice, Beaumont.
A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Mr. Oglesbee was born November 24, 1923, to Stella Wooten Oglesbee and Gabriel Oscar Oglesbee. He was a United States Marines Veteran having served in World War II and surviving the battle of Iwo Jima. Mr. Oglesbee retired as a metal fabrication foreman, better known as a welder supervisor from Mobil Oil.
He served as Deacon of Highland Avenue Baptist Church, as well as Deacon of South Park Baptist Church. Mr. Oglesbee was the Sunday School Director as he enjoyed working with young people.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-four years, Eva Oglesbee of Beaumont; son, Jerry Oglesbee and his wife, Michele; grandson, Tad Oglesbee and his wife, Regina; great-grandchildren, Jozlyn, Xaidee, and Xander, all of Sour Lake; and his beloved pet, Bella.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Dortha Wallace.
A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
