Jane Elizabeth Sims Gay
October 30, 1940 - February 27, 2012

Jane Elizabeth Sims Gay, 71, of Beaumont, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 27, 2012, from Lou Gehrig’s disease with her family and friends by her side.

 

A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, she was born October 30, 1940, to Oscar A. Sims and Geraldine Stewart Sims. Jane was a retired Registered Nurse, and worked mostly in the Western United States on Indian Reservations. She spent a lot of time at Crystal Beach while attending the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Her passion was caring for others, as she had many friends all over the country, and enjoyed traveling in the United States.

 

Survivors include her sons, Cecil Todd Gay and Roger Thomas Gay; mother, “Jerry” Sims; sister, JoAnn Sims Koch and her husband, Jay, all of Beaumont; and brother, Lane Sims and his wife, Penny of Katy.

 

She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar A. Sims, and by Thomas Ray Gay, father of Todd and Roger.

 

A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with her memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.  A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium.

 

The family would like to give special thanks to Jane’s caregivers, Jane Odell, Annie Moore, and Carrie Gazaway.
