Esther Mae Poss, 91, of Port Neches, died Monday, February 27, 2012, at Oak Grove Nursing Home, Groves. Born February 23, 1921, to Bessie Ellen and Stanley Dwight Marlow in Central City, Ohio, she was a resident of the Mid-County area since she was twelve years old. Esther spent her working years as an account manager/bookkeeper, having worked with Port Neches Texaco Federal Credit Union. She also volunteered in the First Baptist Church, Port Neches library for some time. Esther enjoyed quilting, sewing, all handwork and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, James Poss and his wife, Joyce of Sam Rayburn and Thomas Poss of Katy; daughter, Brenda Distefano and her husband, David of Nederland; grandchildren, Dana Donovan and her husband, Troy of Houston, Brian Distefano and his wife, Laura of League City and Russel Distefano and his wife, Cheryl of Katy; great grandchildren, Erin Donovan, Ryan Donovan, Sophia Distefano and Anna Distefano; sister, Dortheia Reid of Vidor; and brothers, Raymond Marlow and his wife, Janet and Garland Marlow, all of Vidor.
Esther is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Alton Poss, Sr.; two sisters and four brothers.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Broussard’s.
