Charles "Sugar" Preston English
November 14, 1934 - February 23, 2012

Charles “Sugar” English, 77, of Nederland died Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur.  Born November 14, 1934, to Irene Borel and Wilburn English in Port Arthur, he was a lifelong resident of the area.  Charles was a retired machinist and a veteran of the United States Army.  He enjoyed fishing and collecting knives. Charles was loyal, good hearted and one of the sweetest men God ever made.  He was known as a union man and also as someone that never met a stranger.

 

Charles is survived by his nieces and nephews, Charmaine English, Jimmy White, Charlie White, Jody English, Christine English Goodrich, Bridget English McHugh and Donna English Lazenby; and step children, Tanya Graves, Lisa Die and Donald Fredrichen. 

 

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wilburn J. English, Patrick English and Floyd English; and sister, Irma English White.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.  A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, February 26, 2012, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard’s.
