Melvin Earl Neichoy, 84, of High Island left his earthly body on February 22, 2012, at The Arboretum of Winnie.
He was born on January 22, 1928, in Beaumont to Leo Adam Neichoy and Eva Mae Measles. Melvin was a retired pumper with Amaco Oil Company and was a World War II veteran. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, fishing, making bird houses, and loved being with his family and friends.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory, son, Marc Neichoy and his wife, Charlotte of High Island; daughters, Melanie Newman and her husband, Bill of Horseshoe Bay and Melva Dean Crump and her husband, Eddie of Leander; grandson, Dr. Bo Tanner Neichoy and his wife, Shelby of Gainesville, Florida; and a host of relatives and friends.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, February 25, 2012, at St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 1308 Weeks Avenue, with burial to follow at High Island Cemetery. A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, February 24, 2012, at Broussard’s, 134. W. Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie.
Melvin’s family would like to express our greatest gratitude to Gaynell Watson for being such a great loving friend and little sister to Melvin over the past year.
We would like to say thank you to the staffs of the Arboretum and Winnie Community Hospital for loving and taking such good care of our father over the past few years and to Odyssey Hospice for their gentle kindness and help during Melvin’s last months.
