Harvey Webb Cowan Jr. died peacefully at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Friday, February 10, 2012. Born in Beaumont, on January 23, 1941, to Virginia Mae Rothwell Cowan and Harvey Webb Cowan, Sr., he lived throughout Texas and Colorado during his lifetime.

  Webb was good-hearted person and down-to-earth. A colorful character, he always loved a good joke and was happiest when people around him were laughing. An avid sportsman, he loved spending time on the coast fishing offshore with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting the most when he was able to organize a group to enjoy it.   Survivors include his children, Kelley Cowan Butler of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and Harvey Webb “Trey” Cowan III and his wife, Amy of Marble Falls; four grandchildren, Phillip Anthony Lowery,  Jerry Morgan Butler,  William Paul Cowan Jr., and  Harvey Webb Cowan IV; sister, Virginia Birdwell Caraway of Dripping Springs, Texas; and nephews, Ron Parks, Kyle Parks, Tal Cowan, and Todd Cowan.   He is preceded in death by his wife, Trudi Howell Cowan; and son, William Paul Cowan Sr.   A gathering of his family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012, at Broussard’s. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department #142, Memphis, Tennessee 38148.
