Jane Bailey Dennis
May 7, 1933 - February 14, 2012

Jane Bailey Dennis, 78, of Wildwood, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont.  She was born May 7, 1933, in Joliet, Illinois to Gladys (Albright) and Douglas P. Bailey. Jane moved to France as an infant and then to Texas at the age of six.  A twenty-nine year resident of Wildwood, she retired from Lumberton Independent School District as the middle school music teacher.

 

Jane was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she studied music education; and studied voice at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland.  For many years, she was active in P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization dedicated to women’s education. She was the choir director for Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church for more than twenty years. Earlier, Jane and her husband lived in Baltimore, Maryland, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dallas, Texas, Orlando, Florida, and Cypress, California.

 

Survivors include her husband of fifty-eight years, Tom L. Dennis, Jr. of Wildwood; daughter, Cindy Wylie and her husband, Gary of Bellaire and granddaughter, Sara Loeb; son, Thomas Scott Dennis and his wife, Carole of Missouri City and their sons, William Joel Hammond and Jason Shalia; and brother, Bob Bailey and his wife, Judy of Austin, Texas.

 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Wildwood-Village Mills United Methodist Church, 5943 FM 3063, Village Mills, with interment to follow at Village Mills Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze.  A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon until service time, at the church.
