Hurshel H. Stratton
January 30, 1921 - January 31, 2012
Hurshel H. Stratton, 91, of Beaumont, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.
He was born January 30, 1921, in Hope, Arkansas, and had been a lifelong resident of the Beaumont area. Hurshel served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. After retiring from the Army, he worked as an operator in the Decoker Unit at Gulf Refinery for over twenty years.
Survivors include his wife of sixteen years, Barbara LeMare Hollis Stratton of Beaumont; sons, Hurshel L. Stratton and his wife, Judy of Pasadena, Bobby Hollis and his wife, Kathy of Kingwood, and Rodney Hollis of Beaumont; daughters, Becky Hollis of Midland and Cindy Spence and her husband, Mike of Mont Belvieu; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Katherine Stratton; sister, Catherine Brown; and his grandson, Josh Hollis.
A gathering of his family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 3, 2012, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
