Our beloved “Mimi” and our Bettye with an “e” has gone to heaven with shouts of joy from all of her loved ones that “she is here!” She passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 25, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Bettye was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Willie Audrey and Leslie Earl Parsons. She attended Centenary College and later married her first love, Belton Belmont Williams of Shreveport. They had a beautiful fun filled marriage for twenty-six years until his death in 1973. Her second love was James L. Jones of Groves. They had a wonderful marriage for twenty-five years until his death in 2003.
Survivors include her children, Leslie B. Williams and his wife, Sherry of Vidor, Maida Williams Ducote and her husband, Dan of Beaumont and Sharon Williams Garsen and her husband, Mark of Austin; step daughters, Becky Hicks of Dallas and Dulce Browning of Fannett; grandchildren, Dan Ducote, Jr., Cullen Ducote, Meredith Ducote Reiner, Leslie Wayne Williams and Heather Michelle Garsen; the newly arrived great grand twins, Madeline and Nathan Reiner, and the expectation of a third great grandchild; her 92 year old first cousin, Adelaide Harper of Lake Charles, Louisiana; and many many friends and people that truly loved our Mimi.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, B.B. Williams and Jimmie Jones.
A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent, Shreveport, Louisiana, under the direction of Broussard’s.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to a charity of one’s choice.
