Bertha Joy Smith, 74, of Kountze died Thursday, January 20, 2012, at her residence. She was born January 1, 1938, in Village Mills to Iva Opal (Martin) and Zibia Walters. Having lived most of her life in the Kountze area, she was a clerk with WalMart.
Survivors include her children, Terry Douglas Anderson and his wife, Laura of Nacogdoches, Lisa Michelle Hansen and her husband, Jim of Kountze, and Dana Burt and her husband, Brian of Spring; sisters, Geraldine Gussman and her husband, Joe of Wildwood and Mary Hoffer of Dallas; grandchildren, Shilow Tiner and his wife, Amanda, Shaun Tiner and his wife, Teresa, Jimmy Hansen and his wife, Rochelle, Genni Lynne Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Alison Burt, and Erin Burt; great-grandchildren, Brandan Anderson, Anna Anderson, Rebeccah Anderson, R.J. Anderson, Michael Garner, Jimmy Garner, Lawaine Garner, Kaydence Hansen, Kierston Hansen, Stormi Freeman, Weldon Freeman, and Shilah Tiner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jake Smith.
Cremation arrangements are being handled under the direction of Broussard’s in Kountze. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
