John Calvin Parker, 72, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont.
He was born March 19, 1939, in Logansport, Louisiana, to Ola Westmoreland Lane Parker and Denton Thela Parker, and had been a resident of Lumberton for many years. Mr. Parker was a retired editor of Mobile Marine Publication, Mobil Oil Corporation and also was a retired park manager from Village Creek State Park. He was a United States Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Leta Parker of Lumberton; children, Rebecca Matherly and her husband, Trevor of Silsbee, Sarah Parker of Lumberton, Keith Parker and his wife, Tammy, Kraig Parker and his wife, Jo and Dianna McCurley; grandchildren, Spencer McCurley, Shane McCurley, Melissa Taft, Kristopher Parker, Meagan Parker, Kayla Parker, LeBron LeDay, Haylie Parker-LaFountain, and Dax Matherly; great-grandchildren, Otto Taft, Jami Parker and Emma Grace; sister, Glynda Lane of Glen Rose; brother, Robert “Bobby” Lane of Granbury; and brother-in-law, Gerry Smith of Crosby; uncle, Ted Westmoreland and his wife, Edna of Beaumont.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Flonita Smith; brother, Rodgers Lane; and grandson, Korey Parker.
His graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2012, at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Highway 421, Sour Lake, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
